Whether on purpose or by happy accident, this cheery sunflower is blooming near the bird feeder in my front yard. It probably just dropped from the feeder but then again, the Blue Jays do love burying seeds in my yard.

A few feet away more peanut plants have sprouted, in the same general area as the jays “planted” them last year. It’s a brilliant strategy with a fantastic return on investment, if only they were as good with money!
