Met this Southern Black Racer (Coluber constrictor priapus) at Madira Bickel Mound Archaeological State Park yesterday afternoon. He was catching the last of the sunshine but apparently I got too close.
Since they are famously fast, I switched over to video but my snake friend surprised me by slowly sliding off his log. I caught him peeking out the other end…
After our peek-a-boo he switched over to hide and seek. He’s pretty good at it, don’t you think?
